KETV: Congressional candidate Tony Vargas tours Black-owned small businesses in Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. —
State Sen. Tony Vargas toured three Black-owned businesses across Omaha on Thursday.
His first stop was Lionsgate Security, speaking with co-owner Calvin Jones.
Jones and Marvin Ervin started the business about 15 years ago after they both retired from the Omaha Police Department.
They said as small business owners, they feel like Vargas understands their needs.
"It's just having somebody that kind of understands what a business goes through. Getting out there, talking to business owners, finding out what their challenges are and how they can grow their business, what kind of service they want to inject in their business and then at the same time make a profit while doing it," Ervin and Jones said.
Vargas also stopped by the Great Plains Black History Museum and Styles of Evolution.
